Red Itchy Eyes
Burning Eyes
If you have a stinging sensation, feeling of irritation or itching causing tearing or discharge from the eyes, you may be experiencing burning eyes.
Possible Causes of Burning Eyes:
- Allergies
- Dry eye
- Tiredness
- Vision stress (computer work)
- Wearing contact lenses for a long time
- The common cold or flu
- A combination of the above
- Exposure to environmental pollutants such as tobacco, smoke, smog, or dust
How To Treat It:
Burning eyes can be relieved with over-the-counter lubricating eye drops and rest or by applying a cool, moist compress over your closed eyes. However, if a household product gets in your eyes, always check the label first for specific instructions. If the above treatments don't seem to help, make an appointment with an eye doctor immediately. Scheduling An Eye Exam
Watch Outs:
Even if it doesn't seem severe, if you have increased light sensitivity, double vision, floaters, excessive pain or a burning sensation in your eyes that lasts more than a few days, visit your neighborhood eye care center at once. Scheduling An Eye Exam
